Creative Commies: it's okay

This is sort of old post from Boing-boing that convinced me to subscribe for the Creative Commons button that time. I thought it's okay as long as being implemented in the context of the internet environment.

Bill Gates: Free Culture advocates = Commies
I imagine my blog-mate Cory might have a few things to say about this when he's online again. :-) In an interview on news.com, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates described free culture advocates as a "modern-day sort of communists." Well now. (Boing-boing)

“There are some new modern-day sort of communists who want to get rid of the incentive for musicians and moviemakers and software makers under various guises.”
This comment, directed at the Creative Commons and Open Source movements, set off a flurry of debate and sparked what could become a bit of a revolution. In a flash, the creative commons and copyleft logos were mashed up and turned into communist posters, t-shirts, and flags. (Purchase these)
